Credit Reporting Policy

- Purpose
This policy explains how Symsafe handles credit-related information about individuals (including sole traders, directors and guarantors) in connection with applications for commercial credit, account management and debt collection, in accordance with Part IIIA of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Credit Reporting Privacy Code. - What credit information we collect
Depending on context, we may collect and hold:
• Identity details (name, DOB, current/previous addresses, driver licence or similar identifiers).
• Details of applications for commercial credit, credit limits, and the types of credit sought.
• Repayment history information (whether payments are made on time).
• Default information (overdue payments of at least 60 days for amounts of $150+ where required notices have been given).
• Payment arrangements, and corrections or updates to previously supplied information.
• Serious credit infringement information (e.g., fraud or evasion of obligations), only where permitted by law. - Why we collect, use and disclose credit information
We handle credit information to:
• Assess applications for commercial credit and related guarantees.
• Manage and administer credit accounts (including variations and reviews).
• Assist with the collection of overdue payments (including engaging collection agents).
• Deal with complaints, corrections and requests for access.
• Comply with legal and regulatory obligations. - Credit reporting bodies (CRBs) we use
We may exchange credit information with one or more CRBs: [Equifax | illion | Experian | CreditorWatch]. CRBs may include your information in credit reports provided to other credit providers to assist them to assess your creditworthiness. You can find their privacy policies on their websites, including how to access/correct information and how to opt out of pre-screening or manage fraud alerts. - Disclosing default information
We will only disclose default information to a CRB if permitted by law and after required notices have been provided (including notice of our intention to disclose if the overdue amount is not paid within the specified time). If you subsequently pay the default, we will update the CRB(s) accordingly. - Access and correction
You may request access to, or correction of, your credit-related information by contacting privacy@symsafe.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. If we refuse a request, we will provide reasons and outline complaint options. - Complaints
If you believe we have breached our credit reporting obligations, contact privacy@symsafe.com.au with details. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it promptly. If you’re not satisfied, you may complain to the OAIC (www.oaic.gov.au). - Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect credit-related information and to destroy/de-identify it when no longer required, subject to legal retention requirements.
